A PLACE TO GROW, CONTRIBUTE, AND BELONG.
Beyond Meals is a community-based social enterprise that supports adults facing barriers to employment through meaningful work, skill development, and nutritious meals prepared with care.
What we do
Beyond Meals supports adults living with mental illness and other barriers to employment through meaningful, hands-on socio-professional integration programs. Through structured kitchen work, skill-building opportunities, and individualized support, participants develop confidence, work skills, and social connection in a supportive environment. At the same time, we prepare nutritious frozen meals that help support food security for vulnerable members of the West Island community of Montreal.

Meaningful work & mental health support
Our socio-professional integration program supports adults living with mental health and psychosocial challenges through structured, hands-on work experience, personalized support, and opportunities to build confidence, skills, and community connection.
Nutritious meals for the community
Every meal prepared at Beyond Meals supports both food security and social impact. Our kitchen produces nutritious frozen meals for community members while creating meaningful training and work opportunities for program participants.
OUR STORY
Founded in Dorval in 1996, Beyond Meals, formerly known as L’Équipe Entreprise, grew from a small social employment pilot project into a community organization dedicated to food security, inclusion, and empowerment across Montreal’s West Island.
Originally created under Friends for Mental Health to provide meaningful work opportunities for adults living with mental health challenges, the organization evolved from preparing mailings and baking cookies to offering catering services and nutritious frozen meals in a structured, supportive environment.
OUR IMPACT IN NUMBERS
Over the past 30 years, we’ve supported over 500 individuals facing mental health challenges in the West Island of Montreal and beyond. With our frozen meal clients included, our reach extends to at least 2,000 people annually. Our initiatives focus on enhancing employability and food security for those facing mental health issues, promoting inclusion and development in our community.
